Charles and Nelly Omina Kenya Kenya Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Holmburg were sent to Uganda, East Africa, under the auspices of Elim Fellowship in 1969. The work grew and extended from eastern Uganda to western Kenya. They were forced to flee the country in 1973 during the reign of Idi Amin. The pastors remained in contact with Mrs. Holmburg and her son, Rev. Richard Douglas. Affiliation with Open Bible Churches was granted in June 1983. As of January of 2021, Open Bible has 98 churches with 10,829 members and 100 credentialed ministers. Many congregations meet wherever they can, such as under trees. One of the churches operates a primary school. Open Bible also cares for as many as 50 orphans. Andrew and Emily Clark were appointed as missionaries in 1987 to assist the pastors with discipleship and leadership training. Theological Education by Extension (T.E.E.) materials that were developed and used in Haiti were translated into Swahili. The Clarks returned to the U.S. in June 1997 and the T.E.E. program was nationalized. Charles Omina is the field director.
