Open Bible initiated the work in Mindanao in June 1978 with the appointment of Bob and Mardell Brewer and the Paul Townsend family. The ministry began with several churches with national pastors, a Bible institute and T.E.E. Philippine Open Bible Ministries has 40 churches with 4,285 members and 75 credentialed ministers. Four churches are established in Manila. INSTE was initiated in September 1994 and currently has 59 students. INSTE was nationalized in October 2000 and is directed by Raphael Quiñones. Pastor Quiñones also has a pilot program of a pastors’ training school in the church he pastors in Quezon City, and is training six young people to be pastors. Many missionaries have served in the Philippines, including Paul and Jan Townsend, who served for 20 years and returned to the States in March 2001. Missionary Laura Hill assisted in the INSTE program until returning home in 2004. She also ministered in other areas including the Payatas Garbage Dump ministry to children, directed by Marivic Goloy. Raphael Quiñones is the POBM president and serves as the field director. |
