In 1999, Pastor Carlos Mora was the assistant pastor in one of the largest churches in the capital city of San Jose when he learned about the INSTE (Institute of Theology by Extension) program. He wanted the discipleship/leadership program to be available in his country so Pastor Mora became the INSTE director for Costa Rica. In 2001 the Mora family was sent as missionaries by Trans World Mission to Venezuela. After working there for a year to establish a new work in the capital city of Caracas, because of the effects of the attack of 9/11, the funds of the missions department were depleted and the Mora family returned to Costa Rica, where he again became involved in the INSTE program development. They also began an independent church, Christian Mission of New Life Church, in the San Jose suburb of Guadalupe. The church, which started in their home, has grown to 180 people. There are 35 INSTE students. Because of the Moras’ relationship with Drs. Nick and Leona Venditti, international directors of INSTE Global, they requested affiliation with Open Bible. In November 2003 Administrative Assistant Vince McCarty traveled to Costa Rica to meet with Carlos Mora and Kattia, his wife. After reviewing the bylaws and doctrinal statements, the Board of International Ministries accepted the church and Rev. Mora into fellowship. The church and pastor are pleased to be part of the Open Bible family. In 2007, the MOVE construction team from the U.S. built a new facility for the church. As of January of 2021, Open Bible has 7 churches with 670 members, and 6 credentialed ministers. Carlos Mora serves as the field director. |
