LyHoung and Sarin Mak
Cambodia

Cambodia
LyHoung and Sarin both fled Cambodia more than 30 years ago due to the country’s communist Khmer Rouge regime. More than a million people were killed by this regime, causing Cambodia to be known for the “Killing Fields.” The Maks were brutally tortured for crimes they did not commit and endured many hardships before fleeing to the U.S. Despite all they went through, LyHoung and Sarin have a heart for the lost and a desire to spread God’s hope to the broken and lost souls of their own people. The couple moved back to Cambodia in 2011 to follow the calling God placed on their hearts. Today in Cambodia, people are desperately looking for the real God and genuine love from Him. Lyhoung and Sarin have witnessed hundreds receive Christ as their Savior. The Maks are committed to staying in Cambodia for the rest of their lives. The impact of their testimony and sacrifice has already rescued hundreds. As of January of 2021, the Open Bible church has 60 members. LyHoung Mak is field director.
